Postcards from Lake of Bays
by Bruce MacLellan (TPC#1371)

Lake of Bays‘Post Cards from Lake of Bays’ was published in 2007, telling the history of this Muskoka lake through his collection of post cards from 1900 to the late 1940s. It is in hard cover and has 160-pages of mostly colour images and includes all parts of the lake, local villages and old resorts. The first half of the twentieth century represented a transition from logging and farming to tourism and settlement in the area. The five decades also represented a golden era of post cards – fostered by a convergence of printing technology, transportation and travel. Bruce MacLellan is past-president of the Lake of Bays Heritage Foundation . This book is on sale at local shops and marinas and is intended to further interest in all forms of heritage preservation. Profits from the sale of this book are being donated to the Lake of Bays Heritage Foundation . Copies are also available by calling Bruce at (416) 969-2727 for $24.95 plus GST and mailing.

Hi Jeff,
I guess the answer to your question is as broad as your imagination and your pocketbook will allow! In my experience I have seen postcards in those multi-photo frames for the table top or the wall that most general merchandise or home dec shops sell. Custom framing is another option. A postcard between 2 pieces of glass allows you to see the view side and the back, if the back has an interesting message or postal cancellation. As with any photograph or art piece, sunlight will cause the image to fade over time and so you should choose the display location carefully.

I have begun collecting postcards. I want to display them on the wall. What are my options and the best method?
